Tales Of Midnight( Francis Lee with fans in Singapore and being filmed for news in New York )

Drawing on his love of comic books and his extensive knowledge gained from many years of owning a comic book and collectables store, Francis Lee created the whole concept of Tales Of Midnight after he identified an opportunity in the entertainment market for a new property to be introduced into the industry.

Francis Lee Fans(Francis Lee meeting male and female fans at international conventions)

He knew from experience that attending Sci Fi and Comic Book conventions would be a practical way of promoting his creation. He reasoned that new characters could be developed for the film and television market by initially using publishing as a platform to launch them.

Tales Of Midnight

He therefore published the Tales Of Midnight comic book in order to test the appeal of his characters. This proved a huge success with the first print of the comic selling out and leading to demand for more and more incarnations of the property via merchandise such as trading cards, posters etc.

Tales Of Midnight

Such was the impact of this new property that the BBC sent a film crew to record an interview with the Tales Of Midnight creator, to explore the popularity of his comic book hero, and to find out why it was gaining such a rapid global following. The interview was broadcast on the BBC as part of a special feature focusing on comic book creators and publishers and the resulting positive response led to the BBC posting a report of that interview on their own website and maintaining a direct link to the Tales Of Midnight website on one of their other resource pages.

Thanks to the advances in technology, it is envisaged that as well as traditional TV network broadcast, future mini 'cliff hanger' episodes of Tales Of Midnight will be broadcast online via global broadband channels such as WWW.BEYONDSTARLIGHT.TV which are currently being developed and also other mass global distribution channels such as mobile phones where episodes can be regularly delivered on a fee paying or membership basis.

Tales Of Midnight

It is planned for channels such as WWW.BEYONDSTARLIGHT.TV to host online comic versions of the property as well as broadcasting Sci Fi shows, such as Amazing Sci Fi Secrets which features interviews with actors from Sci Fi classics like STAR WARS, and STAR TREK who have shown support for Tales Of Midnight by being interviewed on camera by Francis Lee.

This will encourage word of mouth to spread internationally about such channels and raise even greater awareness for Tales Of Midnight amongst the huge worldwide Sci Fi fan base.

Tales Of Midnight

The audience for this property is mainly male, however both market research and hands on experience at shows and conventions has shown that there is a strong female following out there for Tales Of Midnight. The aim therefore will be to build on that female fan base through the continued development and high profile marketing of the female lead character in the property.

Tales Of Midnight will continue to be marketed through the international convention and show appearances that Lee will attend to meet the fans and autograph comics and posters for them. This should lead to continued widespread magazine and online editorial.

Francis Lee Signing

The appearances at shows such as these along with future global marketing from licensees such as was seen from CORGI promoting their officially licensed Tales Of Midnight statues, should ensure a long term healthy profile for the brand.

Tales Of Midnight

Independent companies selling autographed Tales Of Midnight merchandise also maintain awareness for the property as can be seen by visiting www.talesofmidnight.co.uk where signed CORGI statues are sold

Tales Of Midnight

The recent successes of comic related films like BATMAN,SPIDERMAN, X-MEN and IRON MAN and the continued loyal following for TV series such as SMALLVILLE and HEROES, has meant that there is now the opportunity and a waiting market for the proposed Tales Of Midnight film and TV series.

Tales Of Midnight

The major studios are now investing large sums of money in forthcoming big budget superhero films and TV series

This shows the current confidence levels in the genre

So given that superhero properties will be very high profile over the next few years, thanks to the major studios marketing those films and TV series, it is believed that the Tales Of Midnight will find itself entering a very receptive and fertile market.
